Finding a local, secure and affordable self-storage unit is one thing. But what size unit do you actually need?
Its a question the perplexes the best of us. So here is our quick guide, and some awesome videos to help you out from our friends over at Safestore the UK’s leading self storage service.
What You Can Fit into Self Storage:
- 35sq ft – these are good for a few boxes, you can probably fit two twin mattresses in there with your boxes. It’s ideal for a small business with records to keep secure and if you have lots of books, or a student needing a bit more space. You could probably just about fit the contents of a small studio flat in a 35ft self storage unit.
- 50sq ft – ideal for a one bedroom flat or home. These self storage units offer a little more flexibility and more room for larger furniture such as tables and chairs that you can’t really fit in smaller units. Again if you’ve bigger pieces you may struggle at this size, but measure up and see if you can fit things at an angle, can you play the game of ‘self storage tetris’?
- 100sq ft – great for 2 to 3 bed homes, these units offer much more space and are typically 10ft x 10ft. This means there is almost no issues with getting sofas and dining tables in alongside your large boxes and childrens toys. Its about the size of a large garage and more spacious than you’d think.
- 150sq ft is great for this with a large 3 bed and 175sq ft and about is for those with a 4bed or larger. Or if you really have so much bulky stuff that you need lots and lots of storage space.
